HA NOI — Dinh The Huynh, a member of the Politburo and head of the Party Central Committee's Commission for Publicity and Education, has urged the news agencies of Viet Nam and Cuba to contribute to the friendship, solidarity, trust and comprehensive co-operation between the two countries.

Speaking to Cuba's Prensa a Latina News Agency, led by President Luis Enrique Gonzalez Acosta, in Ha Noi yesterday, Huynh said Viet Nam News Agency and Prensa Latina news agencies should provide information about the development in both countries.

The same day, the general director of the Vietnam News Agency (VNA), Nguyen Duc Loi, held talks with the Prensa Latina president.

Loi said that sharing information between the VNA and the Cuban news agency had already been effective and mutually beneficial.

He said the Spanish language news produced by Prensa Latina was an important source of information about Cuba and the Latin America region for VNA.

To deepen bilateral ties, Loi asked Prensa Latina to create a link to Vietnamplus, the Viet Nam News Agency website to make it easier for readers to access its Spanish language news.

The two agencies agreed to expand co-operation in other forms of multimedia, especially television news.

Loi said he hoped that Prensa Latina would welcome students the Viet Nam News Agency assigned to Cuba and train them in reporting, editing and translating skills for periods of between three to six months.

The Prensa Latina President also promised to help facilitate the distribution of VNA's Viet Nam Pictorial in Cuba. — VNS
