Illegal poachers attack park guards

DONG THAP — Two forest guards were attacked and hospitalised when trespassers broke into Tram Chim National Park to catch fish illegally last Friday.

Nguyen Van Hiep and Nguyen Van Thuyen, the two injured guards, were electrified by trespassers while attempting to stop the culprits from catching fish. They are currently being treated at Tam Nong General Hospital.

This is the third time in 2012 that trespassers have entered the park, recognised as a Ramsar wetland of international importance earlier this year. — VNS
