HCM CITY (VNS) -- The Inspection Committee under the Vietnamese Communist Party's Central Committee has handed a warning to the chairman of Binh Phuoc Province People's Committee Truong Tan Thieu and called for him to be dismissed.
According to a statement made after the 16th meeting of the Inspection Committee held Nov 12-19, Thieu, also the current deputy secretary of Binh Phuoc Province's Party Committee, repeatedly violated the principles of democratic centralism, the working regulations of the Binh Phuoc Province Party Committee and the People's Committee.
Thieu was "irresponsible in implementing his leadership and management" and has signed a number of decisions that were contrary to the law, causing budget losses and serious consequences, the statement said.
Thieu has "recognised his shortages and wrongdoings," said the Inspection Committee's statement.
The Committee also asked the Hai Duong Province party secretary, Bui Thanh Quyen, to draw on his experience and educate his son about the latter's purchase and use of land in Hai Duong.
The committee said that Quyen's son Bui Thanh Tung was the owner of 4,152sq.m of land and several construction works in Ninh Thanh commune in Hai Duong's Ninh Giang District.
Tung's purchase of land and construction of his house in the province was harshly criticised by the public.
Quyen was told to learn from the experience and to engage in serious self-examination about his inappropriate conduct. --VNS
