Banker sentenced to death for embezzlement
HA NOI — Le Quang Khai, a 30-year-old teller from the Viet Nam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Agribank), was sentenced to death for embezzlement while two other accomplices were subject to life imprisonment by the Ha Noi People's Court on Monday.
Khai, in co-operation with two other tellers at Agribank, had taken advantage of their positions to embezzle the bank of nearly VND46 billion ($2.2 million), of which he pocketed VND35 billion ($1.6 million) for himself to gamble. — VNS
