Drug trafficking ring leader jailed for life

PHU THO — Nguyen Thi Thuy Lieu from Yen Noi Commune in the northern province of Phu Tho was sentenced to life imprisonment by the provincial People's Court on Wednesday night for drug trafficking.

The 32-year-old was caught transporting six bars of heroin with her sister and 10-year-old son in a taxi on May 1 in Co Tiet Commune.

Investigations showed Lieu had been leading 27 others in a drug trafficking ring since 2006.

Twenty of her accomplices were also sentenced to between 15-20 years in jail. — VNS
