HÀ NỘI — Deputy Prime Minister Vũ Đức Đam received a delegation of the International Social Security Association (ISSA) led by Secretary-General Marcelo Abi-Ramia Caetano in Hà Nội on Thursday.

The host stated that Vietnam Social Security (VSS) joined the ISSA in 2015 and had taken an active role in the association while working to connect it with the ASEAN Social Security Association when it held the ASEAN presidency in 2018-19.

As a member of ASEAN, Việt Nam had focused on social security issues in its co-operation with other member countries, and during its ASEAN chairmanship this year, it would continue to include social security and insurance co-operation matters in the bloc’s agenda, Đam said.

He expressed his hope that the ISSA, the VSS and relevant agencies in Việt Nam would enhance their co-operation in technical assistance, personnel training, technology transfer and experience sharing, and boost international co-operation in the ASEAN Communtiy.

The ISSA Secretary-General spoke highly of Việt Nam’s performance on social security issues, noting the ultimate goal of both the country and the association was to improve people’s living standards and social welfare.

He said he hoped the ISSA and Việt Nam would strengthen co-operation to ensure social security in the country and promote its standing during global social security integration. — VNS
