HÀ NỘI — Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Phạm Bình Minh will pay a visit to Germany on Wednesday and Thursday.

The trip will be made at the invitation of German Minister of Foreign Affairs Heiko Maas.

Việt Nam and Germany set up diplomatic relations on September 23, 1975. They elevated their ties to a strategic partnership in October 2011, since then Germany has become Việt Nam’s top trade partner in the EU. The countries’ two-way trade hit US$9 billion in 2016, which makes up 20 per cent of all Việt Nam-EU trade.

Both sides vowed to increase two-way trade to $20 billion from the current $14 billion. — VNS
