NA leader welcomes new UNDP country director

National Assembly (NA) Chairwoman Nguyễn  Thị Kim Ngân lauded the assistance of the United Nations (UN) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for Việt Nam’s socio-economic development, particularly in poverty reduction, climate change adaptation and administrative reform.

HÀ NỘI — National Assembly (NA) Chairwoman Nguyễn  Thị Kim Ngân lauded the assistance of the United Nations (UN) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for Việt Nam’s socio-economic development, particularly in poverty reduction, climate change adaptation and administrative reform.

She made the appreciation while receiving new UNDP Country Director in Việt Nam Caitlien Weisen in Hà Nội yesterday.

She also spoke highly of UNDP’s co-operation with the NA over the past two decades, focusing on improving capacity of NA deputies in law building and supervision.

The UNDP has helped in policy analysis and proposed recommendations for important draft laws, she said.

She said she believed that the new UNDP Country Director would help promote relations between Việt Nam and the UN and deepen ties between Việt Nam and the UNDP.

For her part, UNDP Country Director Weisen praised Việt Nam’s efforts in poverty reduction and gender equality promotion. — VNS
