HÀ NỘI – Three more top officials of the PetroVietnam Construction Co JSC (PVC) will be investigated for “property embezzlement” under Article 278 of the Penal Code, police said on Friday.

The three officials, PVC General Director, Nguyễn Anh Minh, Chief of Office Bùi Mạnh Hiển and former head of Finance and Accounting Division of the company’s Vũng Áng-Quảng Trạch Project Management Board, Nguyễn Đức Hưng.

All three accused were placed in temporary custody yesterday and police also executed a search warrant of their residences and offices.

These actions continue investigations into a case of “deliberately violating State regulations on economic management causing severe consequences and property embezzlement” at PVC.

Earlier this week, four senior officials of the State-owned PetroVietnam (PVN), including chief accountant  Lê Đình Mậu, were detained as the police expand their investigation into the case involving Trịnh Xuân Thanh, former chairman of PVN subsidiary PVC, who was recently arrested on charges of criminal economic mismanagement. — VNS
