HÀ NỘI – The Party Central Committee’s Inspection Commission on Friday decided to consider disciplinary action against Nguyễn Xuân Anh, Party Secretary of Đà Nẵng and also Chairman of the central city’s People’s Council, for violating Party and State regulations.

Anh is also a member of the Party Central Committee.

Similar action will also be considered against the Đà Nẵng Standing Party Committee for the 2015-2020 tenure, the Commission announced during its 18th meeting in Hà Nội.

In a report released earlier, on September 18, the Commission concluded that Anh had violated “democratic principles” by making arbitrary appointments to municipal government positions. He had also breached the Party’s code of ethics by using inappropriate academic qualifications, the report said.

The Commission also issued a disciplinary reprimand against Chairman of Đà Nẵng People’s Committee and Vice Chairman of Đà Nẵng People’s Council, Huỳnh Đức Thơ, for his responsibility in violations related to land and urban management.

The violations and malpractices by Anh, Thơ and the Đà Nẵng Standing Party were serious, undermining the prestige of the municipal Party Committee and administration, and angering local officials, Party members and residents, the Commission said.

It said its latest decision was based on Regulation No 263-QĐ/TW and Regulation No 181-QĐ/TW issued by the Politburo on disciplinary action against offences by Party members and organisations, the Vietnam News Agency reported. — VNS
