HÀ NỘI – The APEC 2017 National Committee convened its ninth meeting in Hà Nội yesterday under the chair of its President, Deputy Prime Minister Phạm Bình Minh.
Standing Vice President of the APEC 2017 National Committee, Standing Deputy Foreign Minister Bùi Thanh Sơn and some ministry and agency officials reported on the cooperation with localities hosting APEC events and that with other APEC member economies, and preparatory work.
Deputy PM Minh reminded participants from 24 ministries and agencies that there are 46 days left before the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week in the central city of Đà Nẵng and Party and State leaders are very keen on the preparations for the event.
He said in the context of complicated regional and global situations, the preparations must be quicker and more efficient to ensure the optimal success of the Leaders’ Week.
He stressed the need to prepare the content for the event carefully, through close coordination with APEC member economies to achieve a consensus, meeting common concerns and that of Việt Nam.
Deputy PM Minh noted preparations on logistics have progressed but the completion of facilities in service of the week should be sped up, guaranteeing their quality and performing test runs before the second fact-finding visit by APEC member economies in early October.
He underscored the cultural and popularisation work as an opportunity for the country to promote its dynamism, innovation, and modernity, as well as the provision of technical assistance and facilities for local and foreign pressmen to do their job.
