Central Nghệ An Province Police on Monday detained Lê Đình Lượng of Yên Thành District for allegedly carrying out activities aimed at overthrowing the people’s government.

NGHỆ AN — Central Nghệ An Province Police on Monday detained Lê Đình Lượng of Yên Thành District for allegedly carrying out activities aimed at overthrowing the people’s government, according to its press release.

According to the police’s initial investigation, Lượng, 52, a freelance worker residing in Hợp Thành Commune, Yên Thành District, often conducted activities targeted at overthrowing the people’s government and causing social disorder.

With collected evidence, Nghệ An Police’s Investigation and Security Force detained Lượng following regulations under the country’s Law on Criminal Procedures.

The police are completing procedures in connection with further investigation of the case.

Lượng will face prison term of between 12 and 20 years, life imprisonment or capital punishment if found guilty on the charge under article 79 of the Penal Code. — VNS
