HÀ NỘI – Việt Nam Nam resolutely opposes China’s Taiwan conducting live-fire exercises in waters around Ba Bình Island, which belongs to Việt Nam’s Trường Sa archipelago.

Spokesperson of the Foreign Ministry Lê Thị Thu Hằng made the statement yesterday in response to reporters’ queries of Việt Nam’s reaction to the Taiwanese action.
“Việt Nam has full historical evidence and legal grounds to prove its sovereignty over Hoàng Sa (Paracel) and Trường Sa (Spartly) archipelagos,” she said.
Taiwan’s holding of drills near Ba Bình in Việt Nam’s Trường Sa archipelago is a serious violation of Việt Nam’s sovereignty over the archipelago, threatening peace, stability, security, and safety of navigation, as well as causing tension and complicating the situation in the East Sea, she added.
“Once again, Việt Nam resolutely opposes and demands Taiwan not repeat similar activities,” she stressed.--VNS
