HÀ NỘI — Chairwoman of Russia’s Federal Council Valentina Ivanovna Matvienko has told Party General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng that her country will do everything possible to develop the comprehensive strategic partnership with Việt Nam.

At a meeting with the Vietnamese Party leader in Hà Nội yesterday, Matvienko reiterated that Russia treasures its relationship with Việt Nam, stressing that Russia will exert all efforts to realise co-operation agreements between the two nations.

She promised that the Russian parliament will co-ordinate with the National Assembly of Việt Nam at international forums for the sake of peace, stability and respect for international law.

Trọng said the visit of the Russian Federal Council Chairwoman is important for the expansion of the countries’ friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership.

He affirmed that the Vietnamese Party, State, National Assembly, and people consider developing ties with Russia as one of the top priorities in Việt Nam’s foreign policy.

Việt Nam is pleased with the achievements Russia has attained in national development and defence. It also supports Russia in playing a greater role in ensuring global and regional peace and stability, he noted.
