Cambodia-Vietnam friendship to be fostered

PHNOM PENH — President of the National Assembly of Cambodia Samdech Heng Samrin shared his pleasure with the progressing friendship and co-operation between Việt Nam and Cambodia, pointing to the tangible benefits seen in both countries.

He made the statement at a reception in Phnom Penh yesterday for Đỗ Trung Tín, Vice President of the Việt Nam Fatherland Front (VFF)’s HCM City chapter. 

Tín is visitng Cambodia from October 26-29. 

Heng Samrin, who is also Chairman of the United Front for National Salvation, thanked the Vietnamese Party, State, Government and people for their support of the Cambodian people over the years.

He said he believed that younger generations will continue fostering the tradition of solidarity and mutual support for the sake of independence, freedom and peace in each country. 

The Vietnamese delegation later held a working session with Phnom Penh Governor Paso Cheatvong. 

Both sides discussed a draft memorandum of understanding on co-operation between the VFF’s HCM City chapter and the United Front for National Salvation of Cambodia.

The delegation later held a working visit to the General Association of Vietnamese Cambodians to present financial aid to Vietnamese language teachers for 2016-2017. – VNS
