Former Uruguayan consul reappointed

HÀ NỘI — Nguyễn Việt Loan Foster was recently appointed Honorary Consul of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay for the second time by Uruguayan President Tabaré Vazquez.

She will lead the Consulate of Uruguay in HCM City.

Loan Foster is an entrepreneur who came back to Việt Nam from Italy in 1990 and established the first business centre in Hà Nội.

She had served as a Honorary Consul in the Consulate of Uruguay in Hà Nội from September 2009 to November 2011.

During her tenure, she had not only helped reinforce bilateral trade and commerce but also facilitated the Embassy of Uruguay and the arrival of Ambassador Carlos Irigaray in November 2011.

Lý Quốc Tuấn, director general of the Consular Department under the foreign affairs ministry, praised Foster for her contributions to bilateral relations in trade and commerce, tourism, sciences and technology between the two countries.

She established many businesses in the hospitality sector and recently opened a luxury Việt Nam tour operation aiming to attract high-end visitors to the country. — VNS
