VN wants to boost ties with Netherlands, Azerbaijan: President

Việt Nam wishes to boost its multi-faceted cooperation with the Netherlands, considering this an example of its dynamic and effective relations with a European nation, President Trần Đại Quang stated while hosting Dutch Ambassador Nienke Trooster yesterday.

HÀ NỘI – Việt Nam wishes to boost co-operation with the Netherlands, to further the dynamic relations with the European nation, President Trần Đại Quang stated while hosting Dutch Ambassador Nienke Trooster yesterday.

President Quang said he is delighted at the development of bilateral relations, especially after the two countries set up their strategic partnership in water resource management and climate change response in October 2010 and signed a strategic partnership agreement on agriculture and food security in June 2014.

He suggested both sides intensify co-operation in water resource management, agriculture, energy, logistics, judicial affairs as well as collaboration between their localities.

Trooster said that her country has actively supported Việt Nam in building strategies to respond to this phenomenon in the Mekong Delta region and is also focusing on implementing its bilateral strategic partnership agreement in agriculture, with priority placed on agricultural restructuring.

Inter-governmental committee

President Quang on the same day received Azerbaijani Ambassador to Việt Nam Anar Imanov, during which he urged the early organisation of the first meeting of their inter-governmental committee on economic-trade and scientific-technological co-operation.

He said that the committee is an important mechanism to deepen bilateral ties on the basis of political co-operation and two-way trade.

The ambassador said that potential in economic and trade co-operation has yet to be tapped fully, wishing that Việt Nam will open its embassy in the capital, Baku, in order to promote bilateral collaboration in economic, trade, cultural and tourism sectors. – VNS
