HCM City leads engagements with Lao localities: Lao defence minister

HCM CITY – HCM City People’s Committee Chairman Nguyễn Thành Phong greeted visiting Lao Defence Minister Chansamone Channhalat yesterday.

Phong congratulated the minister on his election to the Politburo and as head of the Defence Ministry and spoke highly of the Lao official’s decision to visit Việt Nam first after taking office.

HCM City is leading other provinces and cities nationwide in terms of engagements with Lao localities, particularly Vientiane and Champasak, Phong said.

He told his guests about a number of projects that the southern hub is organising in Laos, including initiatives to help Vientiane boost its budget management capacity and help Champasak Province carry out community planning for Paksong town.

The minister said Lao localities appreciate the assistance they have received from HCM City.

He lauded the business hub’s achievements in military and socio-economic development, which he considered valuable lessons and experiences for Laos to learn from during its own development path. – VNS
