HÀ NỘI – The 12th Party Central Committee convened its second meeting in Hà Nội yesterday, under the chair of Party General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng.
Politburo member and Minister of Public Security, Trần Đại Quang, on behalf of the Political Bureau operated the opening session.
In the morning, Politburo member and permanent member of the Party Central Committee Secretariat, Đinh Thế Huynh, read a Politburo report on the working agenda of the committee’s 12th tenure.
Politburo member and Deputy Prime Minister, Nguyễn Xuân Phúc, read a report of the Party Delegation to the Government on the socio-economic development plan, the mid-term financial plan for 2016-2020, and the public investment plan for 2016-2020.
In the afternoon, the committee members worked in groups, discussing the working agenda of the committee’s 12th tenure.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, General Secretary Trọng stressed that the agenda should give priority to urgent issues and key tasks, including strengthening the Party and improving the efficiency of the entire political system apparatus.
At this plenum, the Party Central Committee will decide nominees for the key positions of President, Government Prime Minister, and National Assembly Chairman.
The 2nd Party Central Committee plenum will run until March 12. —VNS
