HA NOI (VNS) — The German State of Hessen wants strong ties with Viet Nam, particularly in education, said Professor Gambiz Ghawami, a local representative, during his meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc in Ha Noi yesterday.
He told his host about progress of the sides' joint projects on research and infrastructure construction, such as the transfer of clean water technology for the education sector in Viet Nam.
Deputy PM Phuc lauded the relationship in education and described the Viet Nam-German University building project as a model for co-operation between Viet Nam and foreign countries' localities.
Vietnamese and Germans reached a consensus on developing the university into a leading research and training center in Viet Nam, meeting international standards.
Viet Nam wants further support from Germany in education, economy, politics and technology, Phuc said, adding joint research on combating climate change should be a priority.
Vietnamese and German leaders agreed that the two countries have good conditions to boost trade-investment co-operation twice or three times in anticipation of the signing of the EU-Viet Nam Free Trade Agreement. — VNS
