President Sang welcomes ties with Kyushu

HA NOI (VNS) — Viet Nam welcomes firms from Kyushu that wish to do long-term and effective business in the country, President Truong Tan Sang assured President of the Kyushu Economic Federation Aso Yutaka during a reception in Ha Noi yesterday.

The President thanked Kyushu's authorities for promoting co-operation with Viet Nam and their effective support for the Vietnamese Consulate General in Fukuoka Prefecture.

He also said he hoped the island of Kyushu would continue to welcome Vietnamese technical apprentices.

Japan is helping Viet Nam to realise its industrialisation strategy within the Viet Nam – Japan co-operation framework, which focuses on six priority fields.

The host asked the Kyushu Economic Federation Chairman to facilitate bilateral co-operation in a range of fields including the support industry, especially automobile spare parts, and expressed his belief that the visit would boost Viet Nam – Japan collaboration as well as ties between Kyushu and Vietnamese localities.

Aso Yutaka's visit included a visit to the Aeon shopping mall in HCM City and meetings with several Japanese food production facilities, as well talks with Japanese experts and firms in Viet Nam.

He said both sides should work together in agriculture, healthcare and education, while establishing sites for technology transfer in agriculture and fisheries.

Kyushu, a region and also the third largest island in Japan, is currently home to over 8,500 Vietnamese nationals. — VNS
