HA NOI (VNS) — President Truong Tan Sang has expressed his hope that Japan's Gunma prefecture will assist Viet Nam in areas of the locality's strength such as industry, and especially the support industries.

Sang made the appeal at a reception for a visiting delegation from Gunma prefecture led by Governor Osawa Masaaki in Ha Noi yesterday.

He hailed Gunma for supporting the 3,000 Vietnamese working and studying in the prefecture, and helping them to gather experience and improve their professional qualifications.

The host hoped that the Japanese delegation's visit will significantly contribute to enhancing relations between Vietnam and Japan as well as Gunma prefecture, particularly in the economy.

Governor Osawa Masaaki said in addition to technology and support industries, Gunma has welcomed many Vietnamese students majoring in agriculture.

He said after touring a number of Japanese enterprises in Viet Nam, that Gunma and the Southeast Asian nation still offered substantial opportunities for cooperation.

The Japanese side said that Gunma has many small and medium-sized enterprises whose production capacity ranks second in Japan. They extended their wish to set up close links between the two countries' businesses. — VNS
