HA NOI (VNS) — National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung expressed hope that Vietnamese and Japanese legislatures develop closer ties at a meeting with Vice President of the House of Councillors of Japan, Koshiishi Azuma, yesterday in Ha Noi.

Chairman Hung thanked Vice President Azuma for Japan's crucial support of Viet Nam, especially since the establishment of their strategic cooperative partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia.

"The Vietnamese Party, State and NA continually value and do their utmost to foster the friendship and cooperation between the two States and peoples," he said.

Azuma, in response, expressed his wish for the legislatures to facilitate all-level visits to share experience and boost people-to-people exchange, particularly among younger generations.

He pledged to personally work hard to promote Viet Nam-Japan links upon his return.

Both sides expressed their satisfaction with the growth in political, diplomatic, economic and trade engagements in the recent past.

The two countries shared similar positions on boosting bilateral relationship for the sake of peace and cooperation. — VNS
