HA NOI (VNS) — Burkina Faso has officially recognised Viet Nam's market economy status in a diplomatic note issued by its Ministry of Foreign Affairs on November 23.

This is the result of efforts made by the Vietnamese Embassy in Morocco, which made contacts with Burkina Faso's Embassy in Morocco and had discussions with Burkina Faso officials.

During his trip to Burkina Faso to present his credentials in October, Vietnamese Ambassador to Morocco and Burkina Faso Pham Truong Giang also pushed the issue at his meetings with Burkina Faso President Michel Kafando, Prime Minister Isaac Zida, and the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Economy and Finance, and Agriculture.

Earlier, Morocco, Benin and Cote d'Ivoire also recognised Viet Nam's market economy status. — VNS
