HA NOI (VNS) — Officials from Viet Nam and South Africa met at the Viet Nam-South Africa Defence Policy Dialogue in Ha Noi yesterday to promote defence links between the two nations.

The Vietnamese delegation was led by Sen. Lieut. Gen. Nguyen Chi Vinh, Deputy Defence Minister, while the South African delegation was headed by Dr. S.M Gulube, Secretary for Defence and Military Veterans.

The two sides discussed regional issues and respective defence policies, and put forth measures to foster future co-operation.

They agreed to enhance all-level delegation exchanges, personnel training and experience sharing in UN peace-keeping operations. They also discussed connections in the defence industry.

The officers said the dialogue aimed to implement co-operation agreements signed between the two countries in 2006, contributing to expanding bilateral defence connections.
