Defence Minister General Phung Quang Thanh hosted a reception for Tony Lynch, Deputy Secretary of Defence of New Zealand, in Ha Noi yesterday.
At the meeting, General Thanh spoke highly of the outcomes of the first Defence Dialogue between Viet Nam and New Zealand on Thursday.
Viet Nam always treasured the comprehensive partnership with New Zealand in which defence was among the key pillars, Thanh said.
Lynch told his host that the expansion of the bilateral defence ties would help fuel the two countries' relations.
He said the two defence ministries would increase the exchange of visits, maintain consultations and dialogue mechanisms, intensify cooperation in language and professional training and the sharing of experiences in joining UN peacekeeping activities. — VNS
