HA NOI (VNS) — Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung affirmed his support for co-operation between the US's Oregon State government and Vietnamese ministries and agencies, especially in areas of strength and with high demand.

At a reception for the Governor of the state of Oregon, Katherine Brown, in Ha Noi yesterday, PM Dung listed a range of potential collaboration spheres such as rescue work, post-natural-disaster settlement, creative economy, environmental protection, clean energy, agriculture, imports and exports, education and culture.

He also praised the outstanding performances of businesses from Oregon State like Nike and Intel, affirming that Viet Nam strongly encouraged enterprises from the state and the US in general to invest in the country.

Happily noting the fruitful developments in the Viet Nam-US ties in various realms – but particularly in economics, trade and investment – the PM affirmed that Viet Nam wished to strengthen their bilateral co-operation to benefit the two countries' peoples.

Viet Nam was optimistic about its relationship with the US, he said.

Brown said that with her visit she wanted to expand collaboration with Vietnamese partners and voice her optimism about the US's investment in Viet Nam after the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement was signed and took effect.

Apart from traditional areas such as rescue work and humanitarian relief, Oregon State stood ready to partner with Viet Nam in economics, trade, clean energy, sustainable development, climate change, environmental protection, education-training and cultural affairs, she said. — VNS
