MOSCOW (VNS) — Viet Nam and Russia convened their eighth annual strategic dialogue in Saint Petersburg yesterday, where they discussed bilateral ties and international issues of shared concern.
The dialogue, chaired by Deputy Foreign Minister Ho Xuan Son and his Russian counterpart Igor Morgulov, was held alongside the 65th anniversary of diplomatic ties.
The Viet Nam-Russia relationship was in its prime, with commitments in economics and trade going strong, he said, adding that Russia put forward initiatives connecting the Eurasian Economic Community with Viet Nam, as well as other ASEAN and Asian states.
Sharing similar viewpoints on international issues, both sides said they would focus on peace, co-operation and development amid rapid, complicated global developments.
According to them, co-operation among major countries plays a significant role in dealing with global issues of shared interest, including anti-terrorism, climate change response and regional matters.
They agreed to increase mutual support at global forums, especially those in the Asia-Pacific, and to thoroughly prepare for the third ASEAN-Russia Commemorative Summit slated for 2016 in Russia.
