HA NOI (VNS) — The Government Cipher Commission was given the Ho Chi Minh Order for the second time on Saturday for its decisive role in protecting national secrecy over the past 70 years.

However, it was warned about the enormous challenges stemming from global uncertainties and cyber warfare.

The Cipher Commission received the honour from State President Truong Tan Sang in Ha Noi.

The State leader praised the sector for working behind the scene to protect confidential information of the Party and State, significantly contributing to the past struggle for national liberation and reunification as well as the present cause of national construction and defence.

He said global and regional uncertainties, scientific and technological developments, especially IT and telecommunications, and hostile forces would challenge the sector.

Sang said the sector needed to team up with police, army and diplomats to make the best use of domestic scientific and technological resources in overcoming these challenges.

He said the cipher sector deserved its position as one of the reliable forces of the Party and the State in national security protection. — VNS
