HA NOI (VNS) — President Truong Tan Sang urged court staff to enhance their knowledge, capacity and work ethic to meet the country's requirements for development and judicial reform in the modern era.

Speaking to veteran People's Court officials in Ha Noi yesterday on their 70th founding anniversary (September 13, 1945 to September 13, 2015), the President noted the challenges facing the branch, including the

development of the country's market economy, international integration, the increasing trend of crimes and social disputes, and the appearance of new crimes.

The jurisdiction of the courts had been widened, while the expectations of the Party, State and the people had been heightened, he added.

Sang asked the veteran court officials to continue using their experience and prestige to contribute to the country and help foster younger generations of judicial workers.

At the meeting, Supreme People's Court Chief Judge Truong Hoa Binh reported the sector's achievements in the last 70 years. Binh also told the president that all delegates would continue contributing to the nation's goal of protecting justice. — VNS
