HA NOI (VNS) — President Truong Tan Sang spoke highly of the contributions made by Nigerian Ambassador to Viet Nam Mazi Matthias Ojih Okafor to enhancing bilateral relations between the two countries during his tenure in Viet Nam.

Receiving the outgoing diplomat in Ha Noi yesterday, the host said the two countries' bilateral relations had seen stellar growth in the past few years, but there remained great untapped potential co-operation between the two sides.

President Sang said that the two countries needed to enhance high-ranking delegation exchanges and establish an inter-government committee to accelerate cooperation programmes.

He hoped that in his new position, the ambassador would do his utmost to lift relations between the two countries.

The Nigerian Ambassador spoke highly of Vietnamese goods and their competitive price and quality, saying that exports of products such as cashew, footwear, garments and technology products to Nigeria were certain to increase.

He called on Vietnamese enterprises to invest in Nigeria from where they would have opportunities to enlarge their markets in Western African countries, suggesting that Vietnamese businesses could grow and process cashew nuts in Nigeria for export. — VNS
