HA NOI (VNS) — National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung yesterday asked the Chairman of the European Parliament International Trade Committee, Bernd Lange, for continued support in the signing of the Viet Nam-EU free trade agreement.
Hung said he valued the contributions Lange had made to the growth of the relationship between the EP and Viet Nam's legislative body, as well as the progress of the Viet Nam-EU FTA negotiations.
He said he hoped Lange and the EP would continue assistance for the early signing of the deal.
Lange said he believed the two sides should speed up and diversify their co-operation mechanisms to better implement the goals set for the agreement.
The NA Chairman said Viet Nam had actively built a legal system, enhanced the Government's management capacity and improved enterprises' competence to optimise the effectiveness of the FTA.
He said the National Assembly would do its utmost to ensure that the FTA as well as the framework Partnership and Comprehensive Co-operation Agreement between Viet Namand the EU benefited people and businesses on both sides. — VNS
