Lao PM sends sympathy

HA NOI (VNS) — Lao Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavong yesterday sent a message of condolences to Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung over the great loss of lives and property caused by floods in northern Viet Nam, particularly Quang Ninh province.

The Prime Minister, on behalf of the Lao Party, State and people, said he hoped the Vietnamese people would soon overcome the difficulties and return to their normal lives.

Torrential rains for the last week claimed a total of 28 lives and caused economic losses amounting to trillions of Vietnamese dong in northern mountainous provinces. Quang Ninh was hardest hit with 17 persons killed. — VNS
