HA NOI (VNS) — World Economic Forum (WEF) Executive Director Philipp Rosler agreed to Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung's proposal to promote Viet Nam's image at the organisation's forums.

During a meeting in Ha Noi yesterday, Rosler said he hoped Viet Nam would continue engaging in WEF activities. He also expressed support for the country's bid to host the 2016 WEF-Mekong Conference.

He also said Viet Nam should consider hosting the WEF on East Asia in the future.

Viet Nam was committed to participating in WEF-initiated activities, PM Dung said. He asked the WEF to help Viet Nam improve its competitiveness, business climate and sustainable farming.

At a reception for Rosler the same day, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh congratulated the WEF on being recognised as an International Institution for Public-Private Co-operation by the Swiss government. Minh said he hoped the WEF would continue promoting public-private partnerships in global economic affairs.

Viet Nam was willing to co-ordinate with the WEF in fields of shared interest, including economic development and improving national competitiveness, Minh said.

The host also urged the WEF to encourage conglomerates and experts to do business in and share their experiences with Viet Nam. — VNS
