President bids adieu to outgoing envoys

HA NOI (VNS) — State President Truong Tan Sang received the ambassadors of Germany, Belgium and Finland, who are going to complete their tenures in the country, in Ha Noi yesterday.

The President spoke highly of the diplomats' contributions to intensifying co-operation between Viet Nam and their respective countries in all fields, including organising visits of senior leaders.

He expressed the hope that the three countries would continue to take interest in the Vietnamese market, maintain their provision of official development assistance and intensify investments in Viet Nam.

He said he believed that Viet Nam's trade ties with Germany, Belgium and Finland would thrive after a free trade agreement is signed between Viet Nam and the European Union.

German Ambassador Jutta Frasch expressed the hope that the Vietnamese Government will facilitate the operation of the Viet Nam-Germany University to boost co-operation in education between the two countries.

Belgian Ambassador Bruno Angelet said he hoped that Viet Nam would create favourable conditions for his country's investment projects.

Finnish Ambassador Kimmo Lahdevirta expressed thanks for the assistance he received from Vietnamese agencies during his tenure in the country, affirming that in his new position he would contribute to fostering partnership between Finland and Viet Nam. — VNS
