HA NOI (VNS) — The Vietnamese National Assembly (NA) would help its Lao counterpart revise its Constitution, NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung said yesterday.

Hung also said Viet Nam would also support the Lao Government's bid for chairmanship of ASEAN next year.

The NA Chairman was speaking at a reception in Ha Noi for Lao Vice-president Bounnhang Volachit, who is on an official visit to Viet Nam.

Hung said the traditional friendship, solidarity and co-operation between the two countries was a solid foundation for developing links.

The two underlined the need to maintain special relations and trust between the two Parties, States and peoples, especially in the context of complicated regional and global developments.

They agreed to continue supporting each other at bilateral and multilateral forums, intensify exchanges and implement agreements reached by the two countries.

The officials also agreed that the two NAs would promote people-to-people exchanges to step up bilateral solidarity and friendship. — VNS
