Party chief bids adieu to DPRK ambassador

HA NOI (VNS)  — Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong yesterday praised the positive contributions made by outgoing ambassador of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), Kim Chang II, to enhancing bilateral relations.

Receiving the envoy in Ha Noi yesterday, he congratulated the people of DPRK on their achievements in the nation-building process.

Trong expressed his belief that under the leadership of the Workers' Party, citizens of the DPRK would reap greater benefits in the coming years.

He also said he was very happy with the development of time-honoured friendship and solidarity between the two countries nurtured by late presidents Ho Chi Minh and Kim Il-sung.

Ambassador Kim Chang II praised Viet Nam's achievements in developing the country, maintaining political stability, protecting territorial sovereignty and increasing its position in the international arena.

The strong partnership between the two Parties had created a firm political foundation for boosting relations between two countries and their peoples, he said.

He affirmed that he would continue do his utmost to consolidate and enhance the traditional friendship between both countries. — VNS
