Party official holds talks in Cambodia

PHNOM PENH (VNS) — Politburo member and permanent member of the Party Central Committee's Secretariat, Le Hong Anh, held talks with the head of the Standing Board of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) Central Committee, Sai Chhum, in Phnom Penh yesterday.

They spoke of situations in both countries and debated solutions to existing obstacles in realizing signed agreements and commitments.

In the face of current regional and global contexts, they agreed both countries should work to strengthen their historic friendship and enact comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties and countries. Reinforcing links between ministries, agencies and localities and raising public awareness of Viet Nam – Cambodia amity, especially among the youth, were mentioned as possible avenues.

The two countries promised to improve their economic, trade and investment collaboration, step up progress in border demarcations for peace, friendship, cooperation and development in their border areas. They also spoke of working together on regional and global issues.

Le Hong Anh, in his statement, reiterated Viet Nam's unwavering policy of fostering friendship and all-around ties with Cambodia.

For his part, Sai Chhum, who is also Vice President of the Cambodian Senate, promised that the CPP and Cambodian people will do their best, together with Viet Nam, to nurture ties between the two for the sake of peace, stability, cooperation and development in Southeast Asia. — VNS
