HA NOI (VNS) — Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung yesterday said Viet Nam wanted to strengthen its relationship with Peru.

He was speaking during a reception for Carlos Berninzon, the first Peruvian Ambassador to Viet Nam since diplomatic relations were established 21 years ago.

The PM suggested that the two countries should sign an agreement on establishing an intergovernmental co-operation committee to lay the base for stronger relations.

He also suggested Peru recognise Viet Nam's market economy status and said the two countries should work together in the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement.

PM said that Viet Nam would soon open an embassy to Peru.

Ambassador Berninzon said the two countries should work together to successfully organise the Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC) forum to be hosted in Peru in 2016 and Viet Nam in 2017.

He said Peru welcomed Viet Nam's enterprises at an international trade fair in Peru in August. — VNS
