HA NOI (VNS)— Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong said yesterday that the nation prioritises strengthening co-operation with traditional friends in Latin America, including El Salvador.
Receiving visiting Secretary General of the Farabundo Marti National Liberation Front of El Salvador (FMLN), Medardo Gonzalez, in Ha Noi yesterday, Trong briefed the guest on the latest developments in Viet Nam, including preparations for all-level Party Congresses leading up to the 12th National Party Congress.
He hoped that both sides would work towards bolstering ties in economy, trade and investment, saying this would benefit the people of both nations.
Gonzalez thanked the Vietnamese Party, State and people for their "invaluable" support to the FMLN and the El Salvador people in the past, and said he was determined to enhance ties between the two Parties, States and peoples.
Earlier, the El Salvador delegation held talks with a Vietnamese Party delegation led by Politburo member and permanent member of the Party Central Committee's Secretariat Le Hong Anh, focusing on specific areas for joint collaboration.
The guests also paid a courtesy call on National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong and held working sessions with head of the Party Central Committee's Commission for External Relations, Hoang Binh Quan, and the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organisations. — VNS
