HA NOI (VNS)— Vice President and Secretary General of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) Don Tuan Phong received a US congressional staff delegation yesterday led by Alex Harrison Herrgott of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee.
Phong, who is also the vice president of the Viet Nam-US Association, welcomed the US delegation to Viet Nam in the context of 20 years of the establishment of diplomatic ties and 40 years of the country's national reunification. He expressed his hope that the visit would help the US delegation learn about the social and economic situation in Viet Nam, as well as the country's external and internal policies.
Herrgott and other members of the delegation, who are in Viet Nam from April 3-12, expressed their wish to look at the efforts being made by American veterans in Viet Nam to heal the scars of war, and the search for those who went missing during that time. — VNS
