VN troops to join peace effort in Central African Republic

HA NOI (VNS) — Vietnamese military personnel have undertaken a United Nations peacekeeping mission in the Central African Republic.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Xuan Thanh, Major Vu Van Hiep and Captain Hoang Trung Kien were dispatched to join the mission yesterday following a ceremony in Ha Noi.

Deputy Defence Minister Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh also attended the event.

General Vinh urged the three officers to show solidarity and determination and adhere to their principles as they carried out their tasks.

On behalf of the group, Lieut. Col. Thanh pledged to represent Viet Nam in a positive light in the eyes of the international community and during the process of integration and development. — VNS
