HA NOI (VNS)— National Assembly Vice-chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan has said she hoped Vietnamese and Cuban lawmakers would work together to enhance mutual understanding and co-operation.
Ngan was speaking at a reception in Ha Noi yesterday for her Cuban counterpart, Ana Maria Mari Machado, who arrived for the 132nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliament Union (IPU-132) from March 28-April 1.
Ngan said the Vietnamese Government always gave priority to bolstering solidarity and co-operation with Cuba.
Ana Maria Machado replied that IPU-132 offered a good chance for the two nations' legislative bodies to tighten their ties.
She thanked the Vietnamese Government and people for their valuable support for Cuba's national construction and development.
The guest said she highly valued Viet Nam's preparations for the event, expressing her belief that IPU-132 would be successful. — VNS
