VIENTIANE (VNS) — Concluding his official visit to Laos, State President Truong Tan Sang met with the Vietnamese business community there yesterday.
After listening to thoughts and expectations from Vietnamese investors, Sang lauded the performance of outstanding enterprises such as Laos-Viet Nam Bank, Viettel and Hoang Anh Gia Lai Group for creating livelihoods for locals and improving their living standards.
He also highlighted Vietnamese businesses' participation in welfare programmes in Laos and two countries' target of US$2 billion in trade revenue for 2015.
The same day, Sang received Phankham Viphavanh, president of the Lao-Viet Nam Friendship Association and Lao deputy prime minister.
Phankham Viphavanh said his agency intended to diversify its communication programmes in a bid to cement the traditional friendship. — VNS
