HA NOI (VNS) — Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai thanked former UK Prime Tony Blair for his contributions towards fostering Viet Nam-UK co-operation, while welcoming him in Ha Noi yesterday.
Hai told Blair he was delighted with the extensive and efficient development of the Viet Nam-U.K. strategic partnership in numerous fields, affirming that Viet Nam would always treasure this relationship and make every effort to enhance bilateral ties.
The United Kingdom is one of Viet Nam's leading economic partners in the European Union, ranked 16th out of the 101 nations and territories investing in the country, even as Viet Nam tried to integrate deeply and extensively in the international community.
Hai also thanked the UK Government for its official development assistance (ODA) provision for Viet Nam, wishing the former PM to help Viet Nam access preferential capital resources from multilateral channels and international development foundations for use, in particular, in climate change response, green growth and education and training.
On his part, Blair expressed the hope that the Vietnamese Government would make it easier for British enterprises to ramp up investments in the country. — VNS
