HCM CITY ( Vietnam,VNS) — Viet Nam's Committee for Religious Affairs and Cambodia's Ministry of Cult and Religious Affairs signed a co-operation agreement for the 2015-2020 period in HCM City yesterday.

The document replaces the memorandum of understanding signed by the two agencies in 2007.

During the talks, Pham Dung, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs and head of the Committee for Religious Affairs, spoke highly of two agencies' co-operation in the past. He said the two sides had recorded several achievements through exchange delegations and mutual support in organising international religion-related events in either country.

Cambodian Minister Min Khin said further promotion of the co-operation agreement was needed via meetings between border-sharing provinces on religious affairs.

Both sides agreed to step up delegation exchanges and co-operation in personnel training. They also concurred on supporting enhanced ties between the Buddhist Sangha of Viet Nam and the Cambodian Buddhist Sangha. — VNS
