HA NOI (VNS0 — The armies of Viet Nam and Laos plan to continue exchanging high-level visits, sharing information and strengthening the management and protection of their peaceful, friendly borders in 2015.

This was stated in a Memorandum of Understanding on Bilateral Cooperation signed in Ha Noi on January 20 by General Phung Quang Thanh, Viet Nam's Defence Minister, and his Lao counterpart, Major General Sengnouan Xayalath.

Next year, the two countries' special work groups will also push ahead with their search, collection and repatriation of remains of Vietnamese and Lao voluntary soldiers and experts who sacrificed their lives while doing their jobs in Laos during the warring periods.

Viet Nam had committed itself to assisting Laos in training high-ranking commanders of various levels and implementing a number of infrastructure and public welfare projects, Thanh said. — VNS
