BEIJING  (VNS) — The working group of Viet Nam and China held the sixth round of talks on the sea area beyond the mouth of the Gulf of Tonkin in Beijing from December 10-12.

During the talks, the two sides affirmed they would work to accelerate negotiations on the demarcation of maritime boundaries, while actively promoting co-operation in these waters for mutual development.

Technical experts discussed specific plans to conduct a joint survey of a section of the waters as agreed previously. The survey aims to serve the goals of boundary demarcation and win-win co-operation in these waters in line with international law, especially the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. — VNS
