HA NOI (VNS) – Viet Nam aims to further its solidarity and friendship with India, President Truong Tan Sang said when receiving a delegation yesterday in Ha Noi from the India-Viet Nam Solidarity Committee in West Bengal.

The delegation was led by its president, Geetesh Sharma. Sang said he was delighted with the growing bilateral ties between the two countries, and attributed the growth to both sides' efforts to boost co-operation in a wide range of fields, such as politics, diplomacy, culture and education, as well as support at international forums.

India and Viet Nam needed to open more direct air routes connecting their big cities, Sang said.

Lauding the committee's contributions to boosting the friendship between Vietnamese and Indian people, Sang said he appreciated the sentiments Sharma wrote about the late President Ho Chi Minh and Viet Nam in his Hindi-language book about Ho Chi Minh's life.

Sharma said India had taken a lot of steps to bolster its friendship with Viet Nam, including those undertaken by the India-Viet Nam Solidarity Committee in West Bengal. — VNS
