HA NOI (VNS) — Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung told officials from the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak to tap into their province's agriculture and forestry potential at a working session yesterday in Ha Noi.
The province could do more to maximise its use of land, forestry and agricultural resources, Dung said. Its coffee products hadn't succeeded in international markets, and its forests didn't provide residents enough income.
The province needed to work harder to attract investors, and build a trademark so its products could stand out in the global market, Dung said. It also needed to develop forest-based economic activities in ethnic communities, upgrade its socio-economic infrastructure, particularly traffic and irrigation systems - and ensure social welfare, he said.
Dak Lak officials said the Government should invite major State-run enterprises to open agricultural processing factories in the province. — VNS
